Skincare For Glowing Skin: The at home facial

Whilst we all dream of weekly facials and glow-boosting smoothies delivered daily to our desks, skin care can often come bottom of the to-do list, leaving skin feeling dull and lacklustre. Take time out and treat your skin to an easy at home facial that will unearth your inner glow, boosting radiance for the summer ahead.

Step 1 - Create a spa setting

A calm space that’s free of distractions will allow you to fully relax, helping to relieving your facial muscles of tension too. Place your phone away in to another room, so you’re not tempted to take a peek at inevitable emails or messages that arrive into your inbox. Wear clothing that you don’t mind if they get a little splashed with water, or cover your clothes with a towel or gown to protect them.

Step 2 - Double cleanse

Embrace a slower pace by concentrating on a soothing double cleanse using Reset Cleanser – massaging the formula in to your skin gently, to awaken your complexion and unearth its inner glow. The first cleanse will ensure dirt, make-up and sunscreen is lifted away. Apply Reset Cleanser with a cleansing cloth to ensure it effectively removes any dirt. After rinsing your skin, apply a small amount of Reset Cleanser again, this time massaging with your fingertips. Encourage blood flow and lymphatic drainage by massage up and outwards from the centre of your face. Ensure you work your way down the neck too, using light strokes. Finally rinse your face and pat dry with a super-soft towel.

Step 3 - Nutrient boost

Now that your skin is sparkling clean and prepped for infusing essential nutrients, you can apply a concentrate like Alter-Care Serum. This is also where the most effective massage techniques can be used. Apply our award-winning serum over your skin from the centre, working outwards. At the forehead, in-between the brows, lightly press down with both thumbs and then work them out to the hairline, just above the temples. Repeat this action a couple of time. Next, give your brows some TLC by lightly pinching them between your thumb and forefinger, starting at the inner edge and working your way out. This increases blood flow to the area so can help stimulate hair growth.

Next, use Alter-Care Serum to help sculpt your cheekbones. This is also an area of skin prone to dryness, so the serum’s blend of hydrating marine spring water and holy-grail hyaluronic acid will work to plump and moisturise sun-quenched skin. Smooth the serum up and over the cheekbones and under the eyes (Alter-Care Serum can be used on the eyes too, eliminating the need for an eye cream). Using turned up thumbs, sweep the serum in and under the cheekbones, starting at either side of the nose and sweeping out towards the edge of your cheekbones.

Step 4 - Hydrate the skin

Drink plenty of water, especially after a facial. Your skin relies on hydration to help it look plump, even and glowing.

Walk, don’t drive. Exercise helps to get blood pumping around the body, delivering oxygen-rich blood to your skin cells – essential for the natural repair of the skin barrier.

Eat and drink nutrient-rich foods too, such as those that contain beta carotene, like fresh apricot and carrots and vitamin E-rich nuts and seeds.

Take time out of your daily routine to laugh, smile and relax. These are small moment that will have positive benefits for your complexion.
