How to reduce puffiness

How to reduce puffiness

24/09/23

A whole host of issues can lead to your skin feeling puffy, especially around the eye area. Getting more quality sleep (less scrolling, more sleeping!), drinking plenty of water to aid in flushing out toxins and switching out foods that are high in salt with fruit and inflammation-reducing leafy greens, can all do wonders. Facial massage is also a great daily treat for the complexion, to reduce puffiness and give skin a contoured appearance with wide and bright eyes.

Read on to discover STELLA skincare expert facialist Hadda Akrim’s easy to follow tips for depuffing the skin and eye area using our hero Alter-Care Serum.

Step 1 - Drain away toxins

To reduce puffiness, Hadda suggests starting at the lower part of the face. “Apply Alter-Care Serum to the skin and then focus on part of the face below the eyes and towards the jaw line, working Alter-Care Serum down to the neck in gentle strokes”, she explains. This will also help to relieve tension in the jaw area and create a more defined jaw line.

Step 2 - Reduce puffiness around the eyes

Puffy eyes are a key skin concern, often exaggerated by lack of sleep. Give the area a helping hand with some gentle yet effective massage using Alter-Care Serum. “In a slow, pumping movement, massage over the orbital bone, below the eyes and towards the temples,” explains Hadda. Repeat this sweeping massage a few times on each side to encourage fluids away from the eye area and create a more contoured eye area.

Step 3 - Stimulate the lymph nodes

Finally look to support further lymphatic drainage by smoothing Alter-Care Serum across the skin and down towards the underneath of the chin. Ensure you always massage skin gently and with the right amount of formula to ensure it doesn’t drag or stretch unnecessarily.

Alter-Care Serum is a true skin essential that can even be used on the delicate eye area – which makes it the perfect serum for facial massage around the eyes. Our hero serum contains Wild Harvested Dulse Algae Extract, which supports a reduction in the appearance of dark circles. After four weeks of use, clinical trials showed a 50% decrease in the appearance of dark circles.
